I’m feeling anxious for him, not so much for him revealing the existential crisis that is Halo Head (place), but for his shattered expectations of his dear friend 🥺
Exciting that our list of characters who are not lying to themselves has dropped to the nosy dog (lying to everyone else instead) and property damage fruit bat. Clearsightedness and openness vs. denialism and isolation is such a major theme in the comic, and Achilles has always been so blunt and open about most of his thoughts and desires that he has encouraged others to favor the former as well, but I suppose ego dystonia comes for us all.
I get how hard it is to confront a direct contradiction to supposed reality. sometimes it feels feasible until you’re right in front of it, and you realize how scary it is. when you come face to face with it it can be enough to make you fold up your paper and pocket it.
this man looks like he’s thinking. contrasted with mars waiting until night, where I personally feel like she was spending her time feeling. all that buildup can make confronting something/someone so hard, whether it’s a significant thing to do or not. especially confronting his friend, and with something so important as this. and then the truth might shatter your reality? forget about it. so hard to do.
I definitely feel like he’s not done about this though. I’m so anxious to see what’s next lol
This is a good point, but I feel like it might lead to another hundred comics of everyone dancing around asking clair the big question when he could do it right here and I WANT IT NOW!!
Maybe they’ll go together! Pepper does want to go see her, but idk if he’s ready to go alone. And Achilles might want him along in the hopes Ares will say she wasn’t talking about Clair…that way, it’d be settled and he wouldn’t have to think about it any more.
