I forgot it’s still only been Pepper and Achilles that saw the stairs, I wanna see what Mars thinks if only Pepper tells her that’s where he disappeared to when she thought he straight up walked into the ocean… Kind of a big secret they’ve been sitting on together :pepper-onedge: :achilles-onedge:
Absolutely fascinating character stuff going on here. For all Mars complains about Achilles and as much as she’s willing to physically hurt him, she doesn’t want to “push him around” when it comes to his boundaries/putting him in an uncomfortable situation. And for all Pepper’s kindness towards and concern for Achilles, he has no problem controlling him in that way, keeping him on a tight leash. I mean, he has expressed guilt over this, but he clearly thinks of this as a necessary evil due to his existential fear of Clair. They both care for Achilles, and Pepper maybe expresses it in a healthier way, but Mars’ feelings towards Achilles are more genuine. She also seems to accept that, you know what, Achilles is going to get hurt sometimes, and that’s just the way it is because he’s allowed to make his own decisions. Even if it’s weird. As much as she rags on him, she doesn’t seem genuinely uncomfortable or put off at all. And as helpful as Pepper has been with first aid/being Achilles’ friend, he’s still visibly uncomfortable by such a core characteristic of his.
I’m really excited to see where this goes. If Mars knew something was up with Clair, I feel like she’d be more likely to confront her instead of trying keep all these secrets. But I guess we’ll see! :chloe-onice:
I love how your art sometimes has this sort of shaped/stained glass look. I swear that vine would shimmer like water stuck in time if you crossed it with a light.

I like the little detail that he’s so scared of stairs that he stretches to water the plant to avoid going up another step.
