She is right about change. Through the same nature of change some things CAN be returned to their original state, so it’s a great idea to try, and especially a great idea to assume that your thing is one of those things and become obsessed with it 🙂
I mean, the more things change, the more things stay the same. Just because something is changing doesn’t mean you should try to change things back. Instead, embrace the change and join the new environment.
This whole discussion about change makes me think about entropy, which is a measure of randomness or disorder in something. Given that Clair is someone who values order and predictability, she’s most certainly not a fan of entropy, but entropy is not only unavoidable but also (according to the Second Law of Thermodynamics) guaranteed to increase over time!
Clair seems to be well aware of this fact as a result of her own experiences (“No matter what you intend at the beginning, things always change…”) while simultaneously yearning for a way to fight against it (“I wish I could figure out a way to keep them the same”). But since that’s not possible, Clair instead does what she believes to be the next best thing (“You can make your own chances”).
That last line in particular is such an interesting thing for Clair to say, given the context of the other layers. It implies that Clair’s version of “making her own chances” is more so about restarting everything from scratch, rather than moving forward with what you have while finding opportunities to make your own changes for the better. That latter option would be more in line with entropy, but Clair’s desire to maintain (or return to) a specific outcome with the world(s) she builds for Chloe is so strong that, if it were possible, she would literally fight the laws of thermodynamics for that outcome.
Considering the most recent page.., I wonder if Chloe really DID take Clair’s advice on this. The ability to make things return to the way they used to be.,
oh no. ohhhh no. claire you cant keep DOING this
Throwing out a wild guess that Clair is thinking about Ares. Mostly because I think that’d be really interesting!
Okay well in #209 Ares does say “Things never do stop changing” (can you tell I have a favorite character?)
This is such a good dynamic for these two
Man they really are so much more the same underneath all their protective exterior projections than they can possibly asknowledge.
It’s not hard to read them as being two personas belonging to the same trauma victim.

Clair’s control issues are really showing here….
If only Chloe would have ate that butterfly in the beginning, things would be so much different now. :peachy-stare:

:peachy-aaa:
Chat, we should cancel Clair for kidnappikg people :peachy-aaa:
Real
That implies that they existed before being brought here.
That’s some powerful wisdom
Hm…
It isn’t a hug, but at least they’re getting aloI WANT TO SEE THEM HUG SO FUCKING BADLY!!!!
clair out there saying the most normal sentences that sound in no way like ominous threats don’t even worry about it :clair-cute:
