Even I’ll admit this is a reach mostly based on Mars’s half-smile suggesting approval of the new Pepper, but I get a little sad thinking about how both Achilles and Pepper have had pretty radical personality changes post-many worlds reveal. Achilles doesn’t get Mars’s approval because the way he’s processing it is “wrong” even though it gives him a lot of happiness, while Pepper gets more respect by fitting into how Mars thinks the world should be or should work, even though he’s having a terrible time behind the scenes. The way you process trauma should be accepted no matter how well it fits into society’s preferred way of expressing yourself.
