I don’t know why, but their Clair impressions made me think of the whole “accuracy vs. precision” idea taught in science class. Like if Mars’s impression is very accurate, then Achilles’s impression is very precise.
It’s a pity Pepper isn’t here to point out that it’s impossible for Clair to have had it ordered and delivered; Mars was sitting outside the lighthouse the whole time after placing the request and no one else approached.
One of the neat things about this comic is how many near misses there are. If the characters weren’t all so ruled by their baggage and could talk more freely or just stay in groups for a touch longer, they would realize a lot of things that are already clear to us.
I like to imagine a lot of “what if” scenarios to picture how differently events of media would unfold if certain things changed, but I also remind myself that we (as the reader/viewer) are being this story unfold the way it does BECAUSE of the events that DO happen.
Imagine it like multiverse theory where “yeah the main character could totally have died here, but we’re following THIS version of the story because this is the one worth watching unfold”
I say “the one worth watching unfold” but i guess a better way to say it is “This is the version that the author wants us to see”
I don’t think you’re stupid! “How the story could have gone differently and how that would have changed its meaning and themes” is something you gotta do for analysis, bc “why did the author do this instead of that?” is a good basis for thought.
If you like multiversal meta stuff that speculates about random chance and choices, I would recommend you read Vellum by Hal Duncan! Heads up that it’s pretty dense, nonlinear, and kind of graphic, but it grapples a lot with the line of thinking you’re talking about here.
Wow! It’s like she’s actually in the room! Or outside the room, I guess. As it were
Coiffed hair, long eyelashes, little man is extra spiffy.
Openly happy Mars my beloved
Achilles happily interacting my beloved:mors::achilles-cutesy:

Achilles has deployable eyelashes for when they’re needed (being cute, recounting what a woman said)
