I mean. makes sense. the whole thing she did all the time was bum around with mars and now that’s not the case. and in her own mind palace of all places. and there’s not really any other people to turn to. clair in this reminds me of a parent. I know this doesn’t apply to everyone, but lots of people need and love their parents. yet they’re not the same as your friends
fwiw, pepper is in the same boat as her basically, except he doesn’t have a best friend to patch things up with like chloe does. but does he need one? are the animals so realistic that they weren’t designed to spend a lot of time by themselves with such a small social pool? I feel like it’s more likely they naturally reflect the needs of the person whose mind palace they are in
I assume part of the purpose of halo head is for chloe to enjoy herself. or maybe getting wrapped up in drama is fine bc it helps her stay distracted?
I don’t think Clair has things figured out to that extent. Remember, she made Peachy because she was upset with Chloe. And Achilles was made as a counterbalancing force to Mars, I’m pretty sure, not something to help Chloe. These aren’t long term goals, Clair is just deciding that she wants certain roles to be filled and making people to fill them.
“Also fair enough” and “I should follow your example.” are such good lines for Chloe to hear I think. Being shown the understanding and a willingness to step back and go ‘my way isn’t working, I should try yours.’ is so so important. Chloe doesn’t get that kindness nearly enough… even if it might not quite work right now. Pepper tries and works with the skills he’s got. :chloe-XC:
