This bit is really interesting to me, in that it recontextualizes Achilles’ whole thing as much more than a simple “proclivity”, and more of an active coping mechanism. Maybe it’s no coincidence he found it right after finding the staircase. More of a willing ignorance than simple inability to see certain viewpoints.
Oh my god how did I never make that connection, his first Achilles Moment happens literally like a page after him discovering the stairs graaaghg :achilles-serious:
His ear notch is so small here, when he deliberately plays dumb and along with Clair!
Also, love how this scene began with Achilles being unwilling to accept a drawing as a gift out of respect for Clair and ended with him stealing a drawing, also out of respect for Clair.
I came here to say this! Maybe she’ll punch him across the panel and the paper will fly out. If she gets to it first, he won’t even have to ask… she’d want to know wtf all on her own
:mars-point:
Between asking a question that would throw my life into chaos or going to the hot bitch that will smash my shit in I also think I’d make that call :mars-shout:
Avoiding the direct question, are we achilles?
Well, we know how he feels about omission.

oooof the stairs fucked achilles up more than we thought yeah. the autistic haha ow phenomenon is real
distraction is all part of the plan…
except maybe for all the flaws in the plan :clair-sad:
he looked so happy to help clair hes so precious :achilles-prrr:
something about clairs shading style reminds me of stained glass in churches
I was thinking it reminded me of a really rich and decadent buttercream frosting …but I may just have had too much cake tonight
This is uncomfortable I will go see my girlfriend so I can feel better
Took me a minute to realize you were voicing achilles’ inner monologue and not what you were planning on doing yourself

super interested in mars’ reaction if she sees the paper. achilles pocketed it, maybe she’ll notice it next time she’s checking him out?
alternate 4th panel where he just collapses under the boxes’ weight

:mars-point:
“A convenient escape route from my current conundrum AND an excuse to see Mars? Gimme!” :achilles-happy:
I mean I expected this to happen but kinda hoped he actually would ask??
achilles paws are for helping and holding
It’s so tasty watching brain bubble Achilles throw Achilles’s own words back at him.
*sees stack of red boxes*
“Are all those for Mars?”
What do you think, dumbass? :mars-middlefinger:
“Don’t you want to know” :pepper-surprise::achilles-jolt:

Aw, that poor avoidant little guy, too scared to confront the truth. It’ll be okay, probably.
