My money is on it being the drawing he was looking for in the first place, Clair’s portrait of him. He’s filing away this whole Mars/Ares thing in his “worry about later” drawer.

Interesting how Achilles’ glasses started this little scene by becoming much more transparent than normal to represent him “seeing things clearly” and then this scene ends with those same glasses filling with the same color they usually are, and thus Achilles is choosing not to look into this matter further and is pretending to not see things the way they are.:batty-long:
peak batty subtle symbolism again. the shine in his hair is all diamonds on the first panel, but then progressively recedes from that abstract representation, and takes a shape that makes more sense with how light would reflect off of hair
