Aaaaaaa yes, very good. I was so bummed by Pepper’s past actions, and while this may not necessarily merit immediate forgiveness, it is absolutely a step in the right direction.
Pepper was already good when he was “perfect”, but being imperfect and actually, genuinely learning from his mistakes might make him even better.
The framing of the clock kinda reminds me of the framing of Claire’s broken heart mosaic. Does anyone have any theories on it? It’s covered up in #370 and #260, but I can’t really deduce a common thread on what it would signify.
I dunno if it represents anything if it’s covered or not, but I think it represents pepper’s personality in general. he tends to give good advice even though it’s often unsolicited. that’s kind of like having a compass pointing north all the time, even though you don’t always have to go north.
otherwise, I was thinking maybe it has to do with pepper doing right/wrong, like obscured when he’s not doing great, but reading some other pages with the clock it seems like it doesn’t really fall in line for that theory. I was also thinking it could be like, whether pepper is needing guidance or giving it, but I don’t think that lines up either.
it IS a rare indicator of the specific time of day, something we don’t really see anywhere else in halo head. for what that’s worth.
Hmm. I don’t think halo head is the kind of story that would label pepper’s actions so far as binarily right or wrong. Maybe it’s about ignoring his own advice/moral compass? But then again, #370 seems in line with pepper’s whole ‘good luck with that’ thing, and the covering up in #370 seems quite deliberate.
I wonder if the fact that the hands are constantly moving is an indicator of him being kind of directionless- he doesn’t know WHAT is right and wrong because everything’s always changing.
I have this unhinged connection between pepper’s clock and the weird ‘clock hands’ we saw a few pages ago when chloe was woken up from her trauma memory. The hands seemed to say either 12:15 or 3:00… And the clock in Pepper’s house now says a little past 3:00 am. I’m not sure what it means yet, but it’s intentional.
Our boy’s learning!! I feel like pepper might actually be able to do some good here.

Honestly for as much as I want Chloe to have a break I really do want Pepper to have a chance to be at ease and stop walking on eggshells, this does still kinda feel like a standoff
