I was thinking this ever since the prev page, but I betcha Clair has moved on to so many layers at this point likely not only for whatever catastrophic uprisings the other past citizens might’ve had against her and Chloe, but because most of those people likely also stopped being friends/talking to Chloe and Chloe didn’t like that.
Granted, they likely didn’t think ill of her. Maybe they all got way to wrapped in their own lives and aims that they forgot they were supposed to be friends first. I mean, the closest we got was with Pepper, but then he had to go and get all wigged out over The Truth and getting all jumpy around Clair and wanting to investigate everything that he forgot he needs to just Be There for Chloe.
Hope things turn out nice eventually. I actually pictured like maybe all the old animals that got abandoned will be all “oh gosh hey! We missed you! You skipped town and we were kinda wondering where you went!” And then Chloe would remember (?) that they did actually care and things “changed back” like Clair said it would. That’s my happy prediction at least
