Mars is one of the more emotionally closed off residents on Halo Head, and her statement on roses only growing on their own certainly reflects that. But it’s very clear that the time she’s spent with Achilles and all the emotions she’s gone through over the course of the series has brought her to this point where she’s rethinking everything she thought she knew about how someone is supposed to grow.
Whereas in the past she would’ve probably quickly dismissed Achilles’s perspective, Mars is now very much considering the possibility that he might be right.
My understanding of Achilles’ attachment to pain is that the first time he experienced skin-to-skin contact with another person was when Mars hurt him. I think he must just like both the physical contact with other people and the feeling of pain reminding him that he’s alive.
I don’t know. Maybe I’m just projecting as someone who used to be overly-literal as well and loves physical contact.
I just now realised that Mars IS the rose! Not only color wise, but she too might get more open when given attention from just one person and ofc theres the whole hurting Achilles thing that he likes. Which i mean, the roses did hurt him. :achilles-wonder:
very good achilles
Really hoping Achilles has like… a million bandaids at home. He might need more, honestly. :clair-what:
