continuing my theory that the opening page is showing the creation of the first layer (https://halo-head.com/comic/welcome-to-halo-head/#comment-7831), note how chloe’s dialogue in the first panel seems to be a continuation of a previous conversation, one that we didnt get to see. “it really is kinda beautiful” would be an odd thing to say immediately after page 1, considering neither of them had commented on halo head’s beauty or lack thereof. therefore, i conclude that this is a different layer than the one they entered on the first page, in contrast to my earlier comment where i left open the possibility that layer 1’s creation was still being depicted after that page
chloe being nice to clair here shows how they got along prior to this layer’s creation. if this is indeed not the first layer, that may shed some light on their relationship following chloe’s disillusion with the previous layer: chloe still respected clair, and likely volunteered to live in another false world rather than being forced into it
the art is more abstract and simplistic here than in later pages. this is most likely just a result of the comic’s artstyle evolving, but i think the fact that this is somewhat reverted when depicting ares’s layer hints that the early pages show a different layer than the rest of the comic
Oh wow, I totally forgot that the first thing she did upon getting there was give Claire a genuine compliment.
And it all went downhill from there lol
Spending the rest of the series trying to “make up” for that one compliment. :chloe-onice:
lmao
im going through the archive in order looking at all the comic/chapter/update/istilldontknowwhattocallthese names
very interesting :achilles-happy:
SPOILERS INBOUND!
