I don’t think she’s surprised or taken aback, moreso realizing that giving him a blunt metal object was not a very good idea. It’s not the house or items that’s surprising, it was Achilles’ masochistic tendencies that she didn’t plan for.
In #147, she mentions that the notch in his ear was a “mistake” and based on her reaction to his masochism, that was too. Achilles is just full of surprises.
