once again, the expressions here are on point. also note the extremely simple background. i think the light contrast in the color might be intended to symbolize the conflict (and also surprising similarities) between chloe and clair in the last two panels. as for the first two, maybe it’s symbolizing clair’s own internal conflict between wanting to show basic care for her (“you can stay at my house”) and wanting to care for her in more, shall we say, “advanced” ways (“the whole point of being here is to keep you busy!”) if you subscribe to the “chloe and clair are the same person”/”chloe and clair are two alters of the same host” theory, this may be symbolizing how the internal divide within clair is similar to the divide between clair and chloe, both ultimately stemming from their host’s conflicting ways of handling emotions
