I know Achilles was originally supposed to keep Chloe/Mars busy, but I think part of the reason why he turned out the way he did is because Clair put too much of herself in him, including her desire for Chloe’s attention, even if it’s negative (which then in him became a desire for that negative attention from Mars, who is the member of the residents closest to Chloe in temperament)
“i don’t know why i’m like this. i just am” coupled with the implication that clair is hand-making (or at least otherwise influencing the personalities of) these guys is just. oof ouch oof
