Field Journal [POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR FIRST-TIME READERS, READ AT OWN RISK!!!]:
-Just noticed that Mars’ house has Achilles’ colors… which COULD just be because it’s a limited palette but. Y’know. gotta look into EVERYTHING.
i find it weird how long mars and achilles’s ears used to be. i’ve tried reading into it but i cant really think of any way to make it make sense. they dont become worse listeners (if anything, they both get better at listening). they dont get any better at tuning out unwanted noise, be it literal or metaphorical (i.e. what other people think of them). ig the ears being very long and straight makes them look more like horns or spikes which could symbolize aggression from mars, but then achilles also has long and straight ears and is very much not aggressive. im curious if any of you have ideas, but until then im just gonna assume it doesnt mean anything
mars’s design in general is really cool. it very succinctly conveys her personality to the point that i feel silly even trying to explain how. the one thing i will point out is that the lack of gendered traits in her design, coupled with the fact that her name is mars (yknow, like ♂?) makes it pretty easy to mistake her for a boy. this doesnt matter a whole lot bc gender is meaningless and also it gets cleared up almost immediately
the drab color pallette on mars’s house kinda makes it look like a jail. maybe it represents how she’s mentally trapped in a prison of her own creation… or at least, of her own purchase. yeah maybe it isnt that deep. it also has achilles’s color pallete as pointed out by VT (https://halo-head.com/comic/12-youre-cool/#comment-252) but i have no idea what that would even be implying. she lives inside achilles? achilles brings her comfort? neither are particularly true, esp at this point in the story since achilles isnt even here yet
it’s also interesting how mars & co. just come into existence and dont act like it’s a big deal. i choose to believe they already existed in the real world (well, the world that halo head is an escape from. not our reality) albeit not in the form of talking animals. hell, maybe the “no, you cant have a cat” line was in some way prompted by whatever happened with ares, albeit subconsciously*
Chloe mocking Claire with the “no, you can’t have a cat” and then Claire adding a cat to Halo Head
Yeah, she mentioned in the previous comic something along the lines of “I’ll get you that cat, okay?” But was getting tuned out :mars-shout:
