Halo Head’s response in the last frame really makes me wonder what their relationship actually is, we know that she created the world, but if she has the capacity to do that, I can’t help but wonder what else she “created?” :clair-what2:
re-reading this i’m am starting to wonder Did clair and chole used to be one whole person at some point? is the mystery trauma that happen the result of their split perhaps?:clair-what2:
notice how clair is offering chloe “endless freedom”, while also trying to get her to obey her. very obvious contradiction, making it abundantly clear that clair’s way of protecting chloe is in some way misguided
also note how clair says “only a mother could love you”, while showing chloe love by trying to help her. i dont think this is insinuating that clair is literally chloe’s mom*, but it definitely symbolizes their relationship: clair loves chloe unconditionally and helps her to the best of her ability, no matter how much pain it causes clair, because that is her duty. however, she also finds chloe very frustrating at times and ends up saying & doing potentially hurtful things as a result. therefore i think clair is also symbolizing how parents are often misguided and ill-equipped when raising their children, despite the amount of love they have for them

It’s definitely been building up to that being the case, esp with all the later characters’ visual traits showing up in the flashback later on
