i think maybe it was more of a style change but for some insanely fucking awesome reason thought achilles kept ALL the old style,,, including the lack of shading WHICH IS ALSO COOL considering how the shading and its like,,, language,,, has become by far one of the coolest things about the series

The way he’s thinking to himself here, going back and forth on the implications of this drawing, is very Clair-esque; you can even see her doing something similar on this page: https://halo-head.com/comic/291-the-most-normal/
From his way of thinking and his facial expressions, you can tell that this is really challenging his faith in Clair, as much as he doesn’t want it to. Prior to this, the only connection he knew of between Clair and Ares was the one Pepper theorized, which Achilles couldn’t believe because it contradicted his own understanding of Clair. To him, this drawing of Ares is the first irrefutable piece of evidence that a connection between Clair and Ares exists.
I wonder if Thought Bubble Achilles looks the same as he did hundreds of pages ago to make the very point Achilles is trying to skirt around- “Things never do stop changing”.
Clair might have a specific vision when she draws her villagers, but they’re never going to conform perfectly to it. Not for long, anyway, and definitely not once they’ve seen waterfall of trauma Halo Head is built upon. 🙂 :sailors-valentine:
