I was thinking about that. Where could she go? I have three theories:
1- She goes back to her spot, only to be found by Pepper once again, a nostalgic moment and we have their try on reconciliation.
2- She feels isolated and a weirdo, so she goes to Peachy’s Lair to connect with another renegade, as she feels left outside the “community” like Peachy.
3- She wanders. And wanders. And wanders. And wanders.
Pepper gets worried. So he starts looking around, only to find Achilles. He tells Pepper where she went, so he gets terrified and they both go searching her.
But it’s too late.
She found the Place That Must Not Be Found. With a familiar face, waiting for her…
pepper invited her to a sleepover first, so i would like to think that chloe went back to pepper instead of spending time with clair after the transgression of trying to take her book. just gonna have to see, though!
I might be reading too much into it, but apologizing doesn’t seem to cross Clair’s mind. Like I said a couple of strips ago, babygirl isn’t babygirling so hard right now.
I swear it seems like Achilles is just being an asshole sometimes. It’s a good thing we know him better and that he doesn’t have a bad bone in his body.

Even the tree she sleeps under has been co-opted by peachykeen. For a place ostensibly made for chloe to grow in there sure doesn’t seem to really be a spot for her in halo head. I wonder if she’ll try to leave the same way achilles did, and find the staircase…
come to think of it, what would even happen if chloe found the staircase? did she find it in any of the other layers? or maybe she found it in all of them? are we finally about to see what happens at the end of a layer? :peachy-menacing:

then she grab the book and Pepper start to put a cost to the sleepover, and thats talking about Clair, she then leaves and the first thing she said then was:
”as if i needed another nosy control freak”
the thing here is that, she left feeling annoyed, but not really angry at Pepper. She did left Clair here however because she feel betrayed, Clair ask thing of her but in a dishonest way, and thats what hurts Chloe more than annoys her.
The book is also important because is not coincidental that the book is yellow (the color of Pepper) and that Clair doesnt like that book, just as Clair doesnt like that Chloe gets along with Pepper.
So i think Chloe will go to Pepper because Clair push her to be even more attached to that book and in many ways that book represents Pepper, she could read that book in Peppers house, but most importantly, she is now angry at Clair so she might wanna talk to Pepper about Clair now… or maybe not, but she did said that she wanted a sleepover and Clair teased her with that just to annoy her afterwards so she might just go to Pepper’s house saying that ”she doesnt take the stuff of this morning serious” and ”its tonight already, lets do the sleepober you promised me”.
…it just hit me that the panel where clair settles on simply not acknowledging the situation is a callback to pepper “sealing the deal” on pretending he didn’t see the staircase with achilles back in 281..
